Version 1 Version 2 Version 3 Version 5
            Song: Song to the siren
Artist: Tim Buckley
Composers: Tim Buckley & Larry Beckett
Albums: The dream belongs to me / Morning glory

Tabbed by: DJ
8th Oct 2014

The original 1968 acoustic version can be found on the
compilation album 'The dream belongs to me', but you would
need to de-tune all strings slightly if matching to that
track, as Tim's guitar is a bit flat of concert pitch.

Tim Buckley's performance on The Monkees TV show in the
video link below, and also found on the 'Morning Glory'
album, is in correct concert pitch, but his 12 string is
tuned down a semi-tone. Tim plays the chords as below,
in the key of D, but he has his capo at the 3rd fret.
So, allowing for the half-step de-tuning, the song sounds
in the key of E. To achieve the same key as the video
there is really no need to de-tune from standard tuning,
just have your capo at the 2nd fret instead of the 3rd.

CAPO: 2nd fret (Will then sound in the recorded key of E)

Ignore any pop-up chord boxes the site might automatically
show, use the typed shapes below:

Chord names and fret positions are relative to the capo:
Dsus4 = xx0233   Csus2#11 = x30032   A  = x02220
D     = xx0232   G/B      = x20033   G  = 320033
Csus2 = x30033   Gmaj7/B  = x20032   Bm = x24432

N.B.
The version on the 1970 'Starsailor' album is in Bb approx.
(the recording is a little below concert pitch).
Probably played in G, with a capo at the 3rd fret

Also, the third verse lyric differs from other versions,
and has the line... 'I am puzzled as the newborn child,
I am as riddled as the tide.'
The original 'The dream belongs to me' album version, used
in my tab, has the line about the oyster, apparently
someone laughed at that lyric, so Tim changed it when he
recorded the 'Starsailor' album version.]
